This is so ridiculous but just listen to this. This morning I woke up, so excited to hop on a plane to Hawaii and start my vacation… but this day has taken a bittersweet turn:

Mr. Blitz, the fish I’ve had for 3 years, who traveled with me in the cupholder of my car on my move to L.A. from Philly over two & a half years ago, has taken a turn for the worst. He is not his usual happy self, and is hanging out on the bottom of the tank. I’m pretty sure he won’t be greeting me when I get back… I think for being a little $1 Petsmart fish, he’s had a long good life.

I’m so ridiculous to be a 25 year old woman sad about a fish… but I love the little guy.

Don’t feel too ridiculous, I bought a betta fish when I went away to college and had him for 3 years before he died. My entire family was sad when he died, as sometimes I would bring him home for the weekends and let them watch him for a few weeks while I was at college. My family had a hard time dealing with me being away, so it was nice having him there when I couldn’t be. Plus, he had tons of personality for a fish!

Bettas totally do! My betta, Gilbert, is quite funny. It’s amazing how relaxing it is watching him swim around & enjoy his tank.

My betta Bluey Louie was such an awesome little dude and lived for almost 4 years!  I cried really hard when he died.

My daughter has her own betta now named Fishius Maximus (Max for short). Hoping he has a long and happy life too.
